The name is a combination of the words 'tremolo' and 'tone'. Billy Roy Murnaghanīilly Murnahan started this band in the 1950's in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. I am the founder of the band way back in 1957. They changed their name to Tree63 after sigining with Inpop records.Ĭombination of 'tremolo and' 'tones'. Their song "A Million Lights" scored a big hit and word of the album got over to American shores. They were not well known until after their second album, 63 (after the Psalm) was released. Origianlly called Tree, this is a Christian band from South Africa. This popular (and now defunct) Boston rock band was named after lead singer Dave Tree. And besides that, the four (one of them has left the band already.though) bandmembers had nicknames Typhoon, Rose, Attack and X-mas. TRAX refers to the Tracks the band was going to make together. But they also have said that they liked the morbid ironic detachment from Elvis Costello's 'Watching the Detectives' with the lyrics, 'she's filing her nails/as they're dragging the lake.' The two original members used to refer to looking for women in bars as 'trawling'. They took their name from the name of a Hollywood taxi-cab driver (that's like calling Godzilla "some lizard from Japan!) That "cabdriver from Hollywood" was actually the Robert DeNiro character from the movie TAXI DRIVER. Their name is NOT after DeNiro's character in the Taxi Driver. Also where the band Texas got their name from. Lead character in the movie Paris, Texas. It's a bent paintbrush that paints its own handle The band are named after legendary British DJ Dave Lee "Hairy Cornflake" Travis.įrom a character in the British Sci-fi TV series Blake's 7 Not as many people think from TAXI DRIVER, but from the same movie as fellow Glaswegians Texas, they take their name from the film PARIS, TEXAS Chris Brown( the lead singer) said "We all felt trapped, so that was the name." They always felt obligations of being grounded in their small town as their parents wanted them to finish school. O Positive’s place in the Boston rock firmament is still so prominent that they were one of the last bands played on WFNX before it went off the air on July 20, 2012.Hey! I meet the band a week ago in my friend's dad Studio and They told me that they called it Trapt because thats how they felt in High School! I'm positive. Ingham operates the Shuz recording studio in Newton, and soundman-cum-rhythm guitarist Dave Martin has released a series of heartfelt solo albums. Additionally, Herlihy practices entertainment law and teaches at Northeastern University. Singer Dave Herlihy, drummer Ken Hickey, and bassist Dave Ingham have played around town as a trio variously named Hurl, Toyboat, and Hey Dave in the intervening years, and O Positive has reunited sporadically for benefit concerts. The confrontational and cathartic Home Sweet Head (Smashing, 1993) became their swan song, and O Positive disbanded in early 1995. Thanks to college radio, the band had a national reputation as a band to watch, but their maiden major label voyage, toyboatToyBoatTOYBOAT (Epic, 1990) got caught up in the wake of label politics before it had the chance to sink or swim. Their video for the radio hit “With You” got some airplay on MTV. After placing in the Rumble, the band’s EPs Only Breathing (Throbbing Lobster, 1985) and Cloud Factory (Link, 1987) became top sellers at Newbury Comics. O Positive formed in 1983 in the metro-west suburbs, and their intense live shows made them a popular live act. The quintet’s angular melodies, emotional vocals, shimmering guitars, and glossy production struck a positive chord among local rock fans. Back in the ’80s and ’90s, you couldn’t turn on a radio in Boston without hearing one of O Positive’s songs.
